Free Time Activities in English for A2 Learners: Lesson Plan and Handout

Introduction (15 minutes): 

Start the class with a brief discussion on the importance of hobbies and free time activities in our lives. Discuss how these activities contribute to personal well-being and can be a source of relaxation and enjoyment. Encourage students to share not only their favorite hobbies but also the benefits they derive from them.

Vocabulary Building (20 minutes):

  1. Engage with Multimedia: Utilize multimedia resources such as videos, images, and audio clips to introduce vocabulary. Show short clips or images representing various activities and have students guess the corresponding words.

  2. Categorization Activity: Group the vocabulary into categories like indoor activities, outdoor activities, team sports, individual hobbies, etc. This will help students organize and remember the words more effectively.

Reading Fill-in-the-Gap Exercise (25 minutes):

  1. Authentic Texts: Choose an authentic text, such as a short article or a blog post about someone's weekend activities. Ensure the text is at an appropriate difficulty level for the class.
